| Psal 74:9-12 (KJS)
We see not our signs: [there is] no more any prophet: neither [is there] among
us any that knoweth how long.
10 O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme
thy name for ever?
11 Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck [it] out of thy
bosom.
12 For God [is] my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
1Sam 3:1 (KJS) And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD
before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; [there was] no
open vision.
I. The Word Is Still Precious Today.
1. To some more precious then others.
2. The closer you are to God, the more precious He is to you.
A. You must first make God precious to you, before His
word will become precious to you.
JERE 2:1-8
God was hurt, because His people had been influenced by the people they were
around, to the point that they no longer knew who their God was.
Ver.2 God said, "I remember when you sought after Me."
Ver.6 God was no longer in their thoughts.
Ver.8 They knew what the Word said, but they didn’t know the God
that said it.
Ver.20 God showed Himself as their God, but they didn’t know Him.
Ver.27 With their mouth they praised a God that they didn’t know.
Ver.31 They spoke what the word said, with no thoughts toward the God
that wrote it.
B. The closer you are to God, the more precious His Word
is to you
3. You can know what Gods word says, without it being precious to you. (Jere
2:27)
Psal 139:7-17 (KJS) Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither
shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou [art] there: if I make my bed in hell,
behold, thou [art there].
9 [If] I take the wings of the morning, [and] dwell in the uttermost parts of
the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be
light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day:
the darkness and the light [are] both alike [to thee].
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's
womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous
[are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, [and]
curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all
[my members] were written, [which] in continuance were fashioned, when [as yet
there was] none of them.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum
of them!
II. Troublesome Times Come When Gods Word Is Not Precious.
Perilous - 5467 chalepos {khal-ep-os'} hard to bear, troublesome, dangerous.
2Tim 3:1-5 (KJS) This know also, that in the last days perilous
times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent,
fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn
away.
1. When the Word of God is not precious, people become unthankful, unholy,
and lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.
A. God is not against you having pleasure, He just wants
you to love Him more than you do the pleasure.
III. How To See Our Signs.
Jere 15:15-21 (KJS) O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit
me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering:
know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke.
16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy
and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
17 I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone
because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.
18 Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, [which] refuseth to be
healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, [and as] waters [that] fail?
19 Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee
again, [and] thou shalt stand before me: 1.and
if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my
mouth: 2.let them return unto thee;
but return not thou unto them.
20 And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall
fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I [am] with
thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem
thee out of the hand of the terrible.
1. Make sure God is Precious.
2. Don't go the way of others, let them turn to the way of God.
3. Put your faith and trust in God.
IV. When Gods Word Is Precious, We Can Be A Partaker Of His Divine Nature.
3. 2Pet 1:1-10 (KJS) Simon Peter, a servant and an
apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us
through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of
Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain]
unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to
glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by
these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to
virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience
godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall]
neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and
hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and
election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
