| Exodus 32:15-29
Exodus 32:17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people
as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.
When Moses and Joshua returned from getting the ten commandments on the mount,
Joshua was alarmed at what he thought was the sounds of war!
On Tuesday, September 11, 2001 we the people of The United States of
America, heard the sound of war, first in New York, and then the sound quickly
spread into lives of all Americans across the land.
It is true that while it was a physical attack, we must remember that Satan
is at the core of these attacks.
And while this campaign will be fought in this physical realm, it must
likewise be fought in the Spiritual realm.
Actually, the shouting, singing, and dancing were just part of worshipping
false gods, and not war.
The war that we now face, is a war that begun by people worshipping false
Gods!
There are certain things that accompany a war, such as the sounds of battle.
Joshua thought he heard the sounds of battle. While all the people of America
are engaged in a physical war against people, we who are saved are also in a
Spiritual war against Satan himself.
While the physical war will be fought by our Military, and many of us will
not be involved in the combat, we ALL can be involved in the battle, by entering
into the spiritual aspects of this war!
I want to point out some ingredients of war that are common to the spiritual
warfare in which believers engage today.
I. IN ANY WAR THERE IS A CAUSE
1 Samuel 17:29 And David said, What have I now done? Is
there not a cause?
A. The cause is to share Jesus with the lost.
B. The cause is the protection of people.
C. The cause is the praise of the Lord
II. IN ANY WAR THERE IS COMBAT
2 Corinthians 10:3-4 For though we walk in the flesh, we do
not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but
mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds)
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness
of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
A. We have the BEST weapons for the combat.
B. We have the BEST warriors for the combat.
C. We have the BEST commander for the combat
III. IN ANY WAR THERE ARE CASUALTIES
2 Samuel 1:25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the
battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places.
A. We lose some soldiers to death
B. We lose some soldiers to dishonor
C. We lose some soldiers to desertion
IV. IN ANY WAR THERE ARE COWARDS
Psalms 78:9 The children of Ephraim, being armed, and
carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
A. They allow fear to overcome them.
B. They give up when the heat is on.
C. They are not committed to the cause.
V. IN ANY WAR THERE ARE PEOPLE WITH COURAGE
2Chronicles 20:12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for
we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know
we what to do: but our eyes [are] upon thee
A. They are committed to the cause.
B. They refuse to turn their backs on God, no matter what.
C. They obey their Commander, because they trust Him.
VI. IN ANY WAR THERE IS A VICTORY
Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him that loved us.
1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us
the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
A. We are past conquerors
B. We are present conquerors
C. We are promised conquerors
