Hebr 4:1-2 (KJS)
4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left [us] of entering into
his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word
preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard
[it].
- It is possible for there to be no profit in hearing the Word.
- Without mixing faith with what the word says, you will not receive what the
Word says.
Roma 12:3 (KJS) For I say, through the grace given unto me, to
every man that is among you, not to think [of himself] more highly than he ought
to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the
measure of faith.
- We all have some faith, but faith starts out small and you are the one who
determines how it grows.
Luke 17:5-6 (KJS) And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase
our faith.
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye
might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou
planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
- The apostles knew what Jesus was talking about when He referred to
"faith as a grain of mustard seed" because He had not long before
taught them a parable concerning the mustard seed.
Luke 13:18-19 (KJS) Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God
like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?
19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his
garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in
the branches of it.
- A grain of mustard seed, like faith, starts out small, but can grow into a
tall bush.
- HEARING THE WORD OF GOD INCREASES FAITH.
Roma 10:17 (KJS) So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by
the word of God.
- But just hearing the Word will not bring forth what the Word says you can
have.
- Even though your faith is increased as you hear the Word, other things can
hinder you from receiving.
Mark 4:14-20
- They all heard the Word, but affliction, persecution for the Word sake,
cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches, and the lust of other things, keep
them from receiving what the Word said.
- They all received the Word ( Mat.13:19-23)
- Only the ones who "Understood the Word", received a manifestation
of what the Word said.
- You have to Hear, Receive, and Understand the Word.
- PRAYER AND FASTING IS NEEDED.
Mark 9:14-29
- Prayer and fasting will change you, so the things of this world will not
effect you faith.
- Having faith does not mean you will be free of the storms of life.
- It means the storms will not destroy your life.
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the
world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.
