John 16:33 (KJS) These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

• Jesus would not say to " be of good cheer ", if there was no help.
• God sent the Holy Spirit and His Word ( Jesus ) to help

"If you only have the Word of God you will dry up. If you only have the Holy Spirit, you will blow up. If you have both working together, you will grow up."

• Jesus and the Word, are One.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

• God gave us the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ, (he Word), to help us in the battles we face.

 

II. Six Ways the Holy Spirit and the Word of God Work Together

 

2Pet 1:21 (KJS) For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.

• Gods Word is anointed.
• The Holy Spirit will inspire us to speak Gods Word.

II Samuel 23:2 The SPIRIT of the Lord spoke by me, and His WORD was in my tongue.

Proverbs 1:23 I will pour out of my SPIRIT unto you, I will make known my WORDS unto you.

Isaiah 59:21 My SPIRIT is upon thee, and my WORDS which I have put in thy mouth..

Zechariah 4:6 This is the WORD of the Lord… by my SPIRIT.

Hebr 11:3 (KJS) Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Gene 1:2-3 (KJS) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

John 6:63 The WORDS that I speak unto you, they are SPIRIT, and they are life.

Ephesians 6:17 …and the sword of the SPIRIT, which is the WORD of God.

Acts 1:8 (KJS) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

• The Holy Spirit gives us the right scripture to use, as we witness to others.
• The Holy Spirit was given so that believers would have power for witnessing.

Acts 4:31 And they were all filled with the HOLY SPIRIT, and they spoke (preached) the WORD OF GOD with boldness.

Acts 13:4-5 They, being sent forth by the HOLY SPIRIT… preached the WORD OF GOD.

Romans 15:19 By the power of the SPIRIT of God…I have fully preached the gospel (WORD) of Christ.

I Peter 1:12 …by them that have preached the GOSPEL unto you with the HOLY SPIRIT sent down from heaven.

Acts 10:44 (KJS) While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

Acts 15:7-8 That the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the WORD of the gospel and believe; And God, which knoweth the hearts, bore them witness, giving them the HOLY SPIRIT even as he did unto us.

Mark 16:20 …confirming the WORD with signs (HOLY SPIRIT) following.

I Thessalonians 1:6 …having received the WORD in much affliction, with joy in the HOLY SPIRIT.

Acts 10:38 (KJS) How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

• The Holy Spirit works through the gifts of the Holy Spirit to bring healing.
• The Holy Spirit works with the promises of God to remove sickness and disease that are brought on by Satan and his demons.

Psalm 107:20 "He sent His WORD and healed them and delivered them from their destructions."

Matthew 8:16 "He cast out the spirits with his WORD, and healed all that were sick."

Luke 4:18 "The SPIRIT of the Lord is upon me…He hath sent me to heal…"

6. The Holy Spirit And The Word Are To Be Used In Prayer.

1Cor 14:15 (KJS) What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

Roma 8:26 (KJS) Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

• When we pray with our understanding, we should pray the Word of God.
• When we do not know the answer, or how to pray, we pray in the Spirit.
