The Authority Of Man
I. MAN HAS BEEN GIVEN AUTHORITY.
A. To have Great Faith, you must
understand authority.
Matt 8:5-10 (KJS)
For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this
[man], Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant,
Do this, and he doeth [it]. When
Jesus heard [it], he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say
unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
B. In the book of Genesis, God gave
Man kind authority on the earth.
Gene 1:26-28 (KJS)
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let
them have dominion
So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male
and female created he them. And God
blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish
the earth, and subdue it: and have
II. UNDERSTAND HOW AUTHORITY WORKS.
A. God gave man authority.
1. Understand that Faith,
Authority, and Anointing, work together.
2. Jesus calmed the storms in (Mark
4:37-41) by using His Faith, Authority, and His Anointing.
3. Jesus cast out the unclean
spirit out of the man in (Mark 5:1-13) by using His Faith, Authority, and His
Anointing.
Mark 1:27 (KJS)
And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves,
saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine [is] this? for with
authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits,
and they do obey him.
III. SUBMITTING TO HIGHER
AUTHORITY.
A. Understand who is in charge.
1. To have authority, you must be
under authority.
B. The disciples did not have the
authority to heal the sick and cast out devils until Jesus gave it to them.
1. Where much is given, much is
required.
Matt 10:1 (KJS)
And when he had called unto [him] his
twelve disciples, he gave them power [against] unclean spirits, to cast them
out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
C. The disciples had authority,
because they served Jesus, and was operating in the authority Jesus gave them.
D. A person who does not serve God
is limited on the authority that will operate in their life.
Roma 6:16 (KJS)
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield
yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin
unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
1. Satan wanted Jesus to serve him,
so that Jesus would be under the authority that he would give Him, instead of
the authority that God gave Him.
Luke 4:5-7 (KJS)
And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the
kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And
the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory
of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be
thine.
2. Satan wants YOU also, to serve
him, so that you will be under the authority that he will give you, instead of
the authority that God gave you.
3. God wants YOU to serve Him, so
you can use the authority He gave you to set other people free who are held
captive by the devil.
Acts 26:18 (KJS) To
open their eyes, [and] to turn [them] from darkness to light, and [from] the power
of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and
inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
The word "Power" in these
verses is "1849 exousia {ex-oo-see'-ah}" which means
"Authority" in the Strong Concordance.
1. Jesus already had authority over
all things.
2. He operated as a man without
sin.
3. He went to the cross for us.
IV. JESUS GAVE US THE SAME
AUTHORITY THAT HE HAD.
Matt 16:19 (KJS)
And I will give unto thee the keys
of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound
in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Mark 16:15-18 (KJS)
They
shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt
them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
A. Jesus said the signs that follow
a believer would be signs of authority.
John 14:12 (KJS)
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that
believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than
these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
John 17:18 (KJS)
As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the
world.
V. SPIRTAUL AUTHORITY IS INFORCED
BY SPOKEN WORDS.
A. To have legal authority on
earth, you must be born here.
B Demons challenged the authority
of Jesus.
Luke 4:33-35 (KJS) And
Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the
devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
C. They thought Jesus came as
"The Son Of God", and not as a man.
1. Jesus was, and is "The Son
Of God", but when He came to earth, He layed that aside and operated with
the authority of man.
VI. AUTHORTY ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH TO
CAST OUT ALL DEVILS.
You will need Faith, Authority, and
Anointing!
God has made them all available to
you.
